Question:

Solve 5x^(-1/2) + 7 = 22?

Answer :

5/ x^(1/2) + 7 = 22

5 + 7x^(1/2) = 22x^(1/2)

5 = 15 x^(1/2)
1 = 3 x^(1/2)  --- squaring on both sides

1 = 9 x

x = 1/9

  1. how did the x^( -1/2 ) go from the 5 to the 7

  2. x^(-1/2)= 1/ x(1/2)

    so it goes from numerator to denominator i.e 5 to 7
