Question:

Length of one leg of a right triangle is10 ft the length of the hypotenuse is 2 feet longer than the other leg?

Answer:

Let the length of one leg be X

then length of hypotenuse is X+2

its right triangle

so

(10)^2 + X^2 = (X+2)^2
100 + X^2 = X^2 +4X+4
100 = 4X + 4
X = 100/4 -1
X = 24

other leg is 24 and hypotenuse is 26
